The Transition to EVs
Electric vehicles will one day become the norm for better or…. better. Fossil fuels will eventually run out sooner or later (with most estimates to be within this century). The transition to EV’s is set to start taking off with every major automaker committed to bringing some sort of EV model to their respective lineups by 2020. With the inevitable mainstream adoption of electric vehicles, it is important to look at how that benefits you and what that means for your electric bill at home.
We have recently added an electric vehicles page to our “Compare” section that can help you prepare for the transition. Check it out and leave us feedback if you want to know more.
EV Comparison and Home Charging
We have also developed a calculator to give a more specific look at comparing the differences from model to model as well as the impact of each vehicle on the electricity bill based on age group and their driving habits.
Here is an example of the calculator for one of the most buzzed-about EVs of all time: the Tesla 3 LR model. With over 300,000 reservation holders starting to receive their vehicles it’s important to see how this will affects the electric bill when charging at home. Not a reservation holder or interested in the model 3? No worries the calculator can calculate the following 2018 models impact on an SCE bill:
- BMW i3
- Chevy Bolt
- Hyundai Ioniq Electric
- Kia Soul EV
- Nissan Leaf
- Smart Fortwo
- Tesla Model S
- Tesla Model X
- Tesla Model 3
